Welterweight Championship Tournament Round 1 – Carter Harris vs Christopher Orion

(We fade back into the arena where “Issues” by Escape the Fate hits, as Christopher Orion comes out from the back smiling at the fans before walking slowly down to the ring and sliding in, raising his hands up.)

Bella Braxton: THE FOLLOWING CONTEST IS SCHEDULED FOR ONE FALL, AND IT IS A FIRST ROUND MATCH IN THE WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT! Introducing first, already standing in the ring! Residing in Los Angeles, California! Weighing in at 217 POOUNDSS!!!!…….”THE ODDITY,” CHRRIISSSTOPPPHEEERRR OOORRRRIOOONN!!!!

James Peters: Once again, we have another first round tournament match to showcase to you tonight, live here on Fight Grid! Christopher Orion, one half of Project: BLOOD along with Kirk Matthews, who forfeited from the tournament early on. If he wants to carry his team throughout this tournament, he’s going to have to beat this man:

(As Peters says that, “Nowadays” by Lil Skies feat. Landon Cube blasts through the PA lighting transitions into purple and pink strobe lights, as Carter Harris walks out carrying a mirror, before walking down to the ring eyeing Christopher Orion.)

Bella Braxton: AND HIS OPPONENT! From San Diego, California! Weighing in at 213 POOUNDSS!!!!…HE IS “PRETTY BOY” CAAAARTEEEERRR HAAARRRISSSSSS!!!

Rich Russillo: I can’t say that I enjoy how Carter projects himself to these people, but I suppose I should give him credit where credit is due – he gave Malcolm Jones one hell of a fight last week despite being on the losing end. If more performances like that come from this man, he might just walk away with the victory tonight,

(DING! DING! DING!)

James Peters: The bell has officially rung which means that this first round match in the Welterweight Championship Tournament has begun! Christopher Orion and Carter Harris circle the ring first, buying some time before meeting in the middle, locking up! Orion is the first to gain an upper hand however as he manages to twist that left arm of Carter Harris, forcing him down to a knee! He’s already in pain but he does not wish to give up, as he attempts his escape by rolling throughout the ring! Harris manages to get away from that hold as he takes Orion down with a double-leg takedown! Two men now struggling in the ground control, as Carter is down in the side control – HE’S LOOKING FOR THE LAST BREATH! He’s trying to lock in that anaconda vise and bend that arm back but Orion is too quick! He quickly moves himself, pulling himself away from Carter as he slides out of the ring like a straw. It seems that Christopher was doing this in order to get away from what was a bad position to be in…BUT CARTER HARRIS IS HAVING NONE OF IT! He is relentless in his pursuit of his opponent as he rolls out of the ring and grabs Orion by the hair! Forearms, strikes, kicks to the chest from Harris to Orion! HE SENDS ORION INTO THE BARRICADE WITH FORCE!

Rich Russillo: You can see the spine bending back from that one, damn.

James Peters: Carter Harris is in complete control of the match tonight as he lifts the downed Orion once more and rolls him back into the ring! Orion groggily stands back up to his feet, AS CARTER LOOKS FOR A ROUNDHOUSE KICK! IT’S DUCKED BY CHRISTOPHER! Harris spins around AS ORION HITS HIM WITH A RIGHT! THEN A LEFT! A SHOOT KICK! THEN A SPINNING BACK FIST! HE LOOKS TO FINISH OFF THE COMBINATION WITH A LARIAT! CARTER STOPS IT WITH A BOOT TO THE ARM! Christopher Orion grabs his arm in pain as he reels backwards, turning his back towards his opponent! Harris takes this opportunity to grab him from behind FOR A GERMAN SUPLEX! IT CONNECTS AS HARRIS PINS HIM WITH A BEAUTIFUL-LOOKING BRIDGE!

Referee: ONEEE!!… TWOO!!!!

Rich Russillo: Kickout! Come on, Carter, a german suplex ain’t going to be enough to pin him to the mat for three. He needs to do more.
James Peters: I don’t think Harris expected to win that one though, as he grabs Orion by his head….locking a full nelson behind his head! HARRIS IS LOOKING FOR A DRAGON SUPLEX! NO! CHRISTOPHER ORION FLIPS OUT OF IT AS HARRIS SCRAMBLES TO HIS FEET – ONLY TO BE MET WITH A BICYCLE KNEE TO THE FACE FROM ORION! WOW! What a strike from Christopher as Harris drops down to the mat, absolutely stunned from that knee strike! Orion spreads his arms wide as the fans cheer for him, but he pays no attention as he grabs Harris from behind, his wrist! ORION PULLS HIM IN! A RIPCORD ELBOW STRIKE TO THE JAW CONNECTS! WHAT A SHOT FROM ORION AND HARRIS FALLS DOWN TO THE MAT ONCE MORE! I’m honestly surprised with the back and forth that this match has had – neither man wants to lose, they want to advance in this tournament and they want to do it badly! You can see the fire in Orion’s eyes as he steps out onto the apron and begins to scale the turnbuckle! HE’S PERCHED! CHRISTOPHER IS PERCHED AND HE RAISES HIS ARMS UP HIGH, SIGNALLING FOR THE END! HE LEAPS FOR THE 450 SPLASH! 450 SPLASH BY CHRISTOPHER ORION! NO! CARTER HARRIS ROLLS OUT OF THE WAY JUST IN TIME AS ORION MISSES!

James Peters: But look at that amazing athleticism from Orion, as soon as he lands on the mat he does a beautiful roll and gets back up to his feet! He’s back up and turns around, charging towards Carter – PRETTY BOY STUNNER! STUNNER! STUNNER! HARRIS GOT HIM WITH THAT STUNNER AS ORION BEGINS TO CONVULSE IN THE RING BECAUSE OF THAT MANEUVER! HARRIS TOOK THE OPPORTUNITY AND HE NOW HOOKS THE LEG OF ORION!

Referee: ONEEE!!… TWOOO!!… THREEEE!!

(DING! DING! DING!)

(“Nowadays” by Lil Skies feat. Landon Cube plays as Carter Harris stands up, sweating but victorious as his hands are raised by the referee.)

Bella Braxton: AND HERE IS YOUR WINNER, AND ADVANCING TO THE QUARTERFINALS OF THE WELTERWEIGHT TOURNAMENT……CAAAARRRTEEEERRR HAAAARRRISSSSSSS!!!!!

Rich Russillo: Well, I’ll be damned. Carter proved my doubts wrong again as he pulls out another surprising performance, defeating Christopher Orion in a first round match to advance! There were some good back and forth, and even the time where it looked like Orion was about to take the victory, but a mishap caused his downfall.

James Peters: Indeed, this was a fun spectacle but in the end it’s Pretty Boy who stands tall over The Prodigy!
